Dear RDFIS Students and Parents,

親愛的各位家長和同學們，

China is responding to the Coronavirus. Schools are taking special precautions. The local authorities have advised secondary schools not to re-open until February 17 and therefore, RDFIS will not open as scheduled previously on February 9th.

近日以來，舉國上下、各界同胞，都在為防控新型冠狀病毒疫情做出努力。我們學校也正嚴陣以待、積極地采取各種有效的防控措施。根據政府有關部門和教育局的最新指示，我校將對原定的學生返校日期（2月9日）進行調整，即（暫時決定）推遲到2020年2月17日。

We are hoping to re-open campus on February 17, 2020 but will be monitoring the situation and following the instructions of the Government. All school events are also postponed until after school resumes.

我們急切希望能夠在2020年2月17日讓同學們回到校園開始學習。但由于當前形勢和疫情狀況不斷變化，市教育局等政府有關部門還將持續根據實際情況向各學校做出進一步的政策指引。如后續深圳市政府有進一步推遲（即在2月17號基礎上再推遲）開學的相關指示，我們再另行通知大家。我校所有的校內活動也將推遲到學校復課之后進行。

During the school closure, teachers will facilitate remote learning for their classes. This will take place over electronic platforms such as Edmodo, PowerSchool, email, and WeChat. Online instruction may continue beyond February 14 if additional closure is required by the Government.

在學校停課期間，學校所有老師將引導同學們使用Edmodo、PowerSchool，電子郵件和群等電子平臺進行遠程學習。如果政府指示正式開課的日期需在2月17日基礎上進一步延后，我校的遠程學習安排也將會2月14日之后繼續實施、以確保同學們能夠持續學習。

If you or your child have any changes in your health status in relation to the Coronavirus please refer this directly to Mr. Louie Li or your homeroom teacher via WeChat or email (louie.l@rdfis.com).

Following are some questions and answers about the online instruction:

以下是有關同學們校外學習安排的問題的解答：

Q: What are the basic requirements for students?

問：對同學們的基本的要求？

A: Students will receive assignments for five online learning days: February 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. Each teacher will provide five assignments. The assignments will be communicated via Edmodo, PowerSchool, email, or WeChat. Students should complete the assignments according to the due dates given by teachers.

答：同學們將接受為期五天的在線學習：2月10日、11日、12日、13日、14日。每位老師將提供五次任務或作業。作業將通過Edmodo，PowerSchool，電子郵件或群的方式進行交流。學生應根據老師給定的截止日期，完成作業。

Q: What platforms will be used?

問：使用什么電子平臺進行學習？

A: Teachers will use Edmodo, PowerSchool, WeChat, email, or other platforms. All teachers will be available daily to respond to student questions by email or WeChat.

答：教師將使用Edmodo，PowerSchool，，電子郵件或其他電子平臺。每天，所有的老師都將通過電子郵件或回答學生的問題。

Although PowerSchool and Edmodo will still be used for specific reasons, a WeChat group is available for each course to facilitate assignment distribution. The purpose of the group is to facilitate assignment distribution and meaningful communication such as assigned discussions or serious questions and answers. Common chit-chat should be reserved for other groups. QR codes for these course groups will be circulated separately. Students are invited to (1) please join these groups, (2) change their alias in the group to their full English name since most foreign teachers cannot read Chinese characters, (3) write in English only in the group, and (4) use a portrait style photo for their profile picture for the duration of the online class.

盡管我們同時會使用PowerSchool和Edmodo等教學工具，但是群將是此次遠程學習的最主要溝通平臺。我們正在為每一門課程建立一個群，建立這些群的目的是方便老師們發布作業及與同學們保持交流，如解答同學們的疑問、開展課內討論及公布答案等等。請大家務必不要在群里進行除學習目的之外的其它溝通。每門課程的群二維碼將會在后續集中分享給大家。收到群二維碼后，請各位同學務必做到：（1）找到自己所選課程的群的二維碼并掃碼加入這些群；（2）將自己在各群的姓名改為自己在學校時正式使用的英文名；（3）在群內用（且僅能用）英文進行溝通；（4）將自己的頭像更改為自己的登記照照片。

Q: What content will be taught?

問：課程教授什么內容？

A: The content of instruction will continue as previously planned, when possible. However, because some students may not have the textbooks with them, teachers will either (1) include photos or digital versions of the textbook, OR (2) use content other than the textbook.

答：教學的內容將繼續按照學校課堂的原計劃進行。由于同學們身在各地，可能沒有隨身攜帶課本、教材。對此，教師將使用電子版教材，或是使用課本以外的輔助內容進行教學。

Q: What file formats will be used?

問：將使用何種格式的教學材料？

A: Teachers will use common file formats, such as PDF, videos, photos, mp3s, and links to websites. Online quizzes, Edmodo submissions, and email submission of assignments may also be used. A list of faculty email addresses is attached at the end of this letter. Students and parents are welcome to email teachers directly.

答：教師將使用常見格式的教學文件，例如PDF，視頻，照片，mp3和網站鏈接。也可能會使用在線測驗，Edmodo、電子郵件提交作業等其它方式。這封信的末尾附有學校所有老師的電子郵件地址。也歡迎學生和家長直接向老師發送電子郵件交流。

Q: Are synchronous meetings required?

問：是否需要在線視頻授課進行討論交流？

A: Because internet connections will vary in quality and some students and teachers will be in various time-zones, online meetings are not required. Rather, teachers will post readings, instructions, or pre-recorded lectures before class each day. Written assignments will be descriptive that students can succeed without attending online meetings.

答：由于各地、各人的網絡質量各有不同，并且某些同學和教師處于全球各地不同的時區，客觀而言，在線實時視頻授課難度很大。因此，老師們將在每天上課之前發布閱讀材料、相關指引或預先錄制的講座。通過具體描述的書面形式的作業等，也可以讓同學們在沒有課堂的條件下，自主掌握所需掌握的知識。

Q: Will teachers be teaching from RDFIS campus, and may I return to campus early?

問：老師們會在RDFIS校園里教學嗎？我可以早點回到校園嗎？

A: Consistent with government instructions, regular on-campus classes will not resume until February 17. Students may not attend classes on campus before February 17, and students will not be allowed to return to campus before Sunday, Feb 16. We will communicate with you regarding any changes to the school open date if we obtain more information.

答：根據政府相關部門的指示：“廣東省人民政府要求中小學、幼兒園2月17日前不得開學，大專院校、中職學校、技工院校2月24日前不開學”。因此，我校不允許學生在2月17日之前返回校園。如有進一步關于學校復課、開學日期變動等得相關信息，我們將在時間通知到您。

Q: What if my teacher posts assignments before February 10–14?

問：如果我的老師在2月10日至14日之前發布作業怎么辦？

A: Teachers may begin posting assignments before February 10. However, out of respect for the Spring Festival Holiday, assignments will not be due until February 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14. Many teachers will post one assignment each day at the regular class time.

答：教師可以在2月10日之前開始發布作業。但由于目前尚處春節假期，作業的截止日期在2月10日，11日，12日，13日和14日才會到期。許多老師每天都會在常規課程時間發布作業。
