Dear RDFIS Students and Parents,

親愛的各位家長和同學(xué)們，

China is responding to the Coronavirus. Schools are taking special precautions. The local authorities have advised secondary schools not to re-open until February 17 and therefore, RDFIS will not open as scheduled previously on February 9th.

近日以來，舉國上下、各界同胞，都在為防控新型冠狀病毒疫情做出努力。我們學(xué)校也正嚴(yán)陣以待、積極地采取各種有效的防控措施。根據(jù)政府有關(guān)部門和教育局的最新指示，我校將對(duì)原定的學(xué)生返校日期（2月9日）進(jìn)行調(diào)整，即（暫時(shí)決定）推遲到2020年2月17日。

We are hoping to re-open campus on February 17, 2020 but will be monitoring the situation and following the instructions of the Government. All school events are also postponed until after school resumes.

我們急切希望能夠在2020年2月17日讓同學(xué)們回到校園開始學(xué)習(xí)。但由于當(dāng)前形勢(shì)和疫情狀況不斷變化，市教育局等政府有關(guān)部門還將持續(xù)根據(jù)實(shí)際情況向各學(xué)校做出進(jìn)一步的政策指引。如后續(xù)深圳市政府有進(jìn)一步推遲（即在2月17號(hào)基礎(chǔ)上再推遲）開學(xué)的相關(guān)指示，我們?cè)倭硇型ㄖ蠹?。我校所有的校?nèi)活動(dòng)也將推遲到學(xué)校復(fù)課之后進(jìn)行。

During the school closure, teachers will facilitate remote learning for their classes. This will take place over electronic platforms such as Edmodo, PowerSchool, email, and WeChat. Online instruction may continue beyond February 14 if additional closure is required by the Government.

在學(xué)校停課期間，學(xué)校所有老師將引導(dǎo)同學(xué)們使用Edmodo、PowerSchool，電子郵件和群等電子平臺(tái)進(jìn)行遠(yuǎn)程學(xué)習(xí)。如果政府指示正式開課的日期需在2月17日基礎(chǔ)上進(jìn)一步延后，我校的遠(yuǎn)程學(xué)習(xí)安排也將會(huì)2月14日之后繼續(xù)實(shí)施、以確保同學(xué)們能夠持續(xù)學(xué)習(xí)。

Following are some questions and answers about the online instruction:

Q: What are the basic requirements for students?

問：對(duì)同學(xué)們的基本的要求？

A: Students will receive assignments for five online learning days: February 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. Each teacher will provide five assignments. The assignments will be communicated via Edmodo, PowerSchool, email, or WeChat. Students should complete the assignments according to the due dates given by teachers.

答：同學(xué)們將接受為期五天的在線學(xué)習(xí)：2月10日、11日、12日、13日、14日。每位老師將提供五次任務(wù)或作業(yè)。作業(yè)將通過Edmodo，PowerSchool，電子郵件或群的方式進(jìn)行交流。學(xué)生應(yīng)根據(jù)老師給定的截止日期，完成作業(yè)。

Q: What platforms will be used?

問：使用什么電子平臺(tái)進(jìn)行學(xué)習(xí)？

A: Teachers will use Edmodo, PowerSchool, WeChat, email, or other platforms. All teachers will be available daily to respond to student questions by email or WeChat.

答：教師將使用Edmodo，PowerSchool，，電子郵件或其他電子平臺(tái)。每天，所有的老師都將通過電子郵件或回答學(xué)生的問題。

Although PowerSchool and Edmodo will still be used for specific reasons, a WeChat group is available for each course to facilitate assignment distribution. The purpose of the group is to facilitate assignment distribution and meaningful communication such as assigned discussions or serious questions and answers. Common chit-chat should be reserved for other groups. QR codes for these course groups will be circulated separately. Students are invited to (1) please join these groups, (2) change their alias in the group to their full English name since most foreign teachers cannot read Chinese characters, (3) write in English only in the group, and (4) use a portrait style photo for their profile picture for the duration of the online class.

盡管我們同時(shí)會(huì)使用PowerSchool和Edmodo等教學(xué)工具，但是群將是此次遠(yuǎn)程學(xué)習(xí)的最主要溝通平臺(tái)。我們正在為每一門課程建立一個(gè)群，建立這些群的目的是方便老師們發(fā)布作業(yè)及與同學(xué)們保持交流，如解答同學(xué)們的疑問、開展課內(nèi)討論及公布答案等等。請(qǐng)大家務(wù)必不要在群里進(jìn)行除學(xué)習(xí)目的之外的其它溝通。每門課程的群二維碼將會(huì)在后續(xù)集中分享給大家。收到群二維碼后，請(qǐng)各位同學(xué)務(wù)必做到：（1）找到自己所選課程的群的二維碼并掃碼加入這些群；（2）將自己在各群的姓名改為自己在學(xué)校時(shí)正式使用的英文名；（3）在群內(nèi)用（且僅能用）英文進(jìn)行溝通；（4）將自己的頭像更改為自己的登記照照片。

Q: What content will be taught?

問：課程教授什么內(nèi)容？

A: The content of instruction will continue as previously planned, when possible. However, because some students may not have the textbooks with them, teachers will either (1) include photos or digital versions of the textbook, OR (2) use content other than the textbook.

答：教學(xué)的內(nèi)容將繼續(xù)按照學(xué)校課堂的原計(jì)劃進(jìn)行。由于同學(xué)們身在各地，可能沒有隨身攜帶課本、教材。對(duì)此，教師將使用電子版教材，或是使用課本以外的輔助內(nèi)容進(jìn)行教學(xué)。

Q: What file formats will be used?

問：將使用何種格式的教學(xué)材料？

A: Teachers will use common file formats, such as PDF, videos, photos, mp3s, and links to websites. Online quizzes, Edmodo submissions, and email submission of assignments may also be used. A list of faculty email addresses is attached at the end of this letter. Students and parents are welcome to email teachers directly.

Q: Are synchronous meetings required?

問：是否需要在線視頻授課進(jìn)行討論交流？

A: Because internet connections will vary in quality and some students and teachers will be in various time-zones, online meetings are not required. Rather, teachers will post readings, instructions, or pre-recorded lectures before class each day. Written assignments will be descriptive that students can succeed without attending online meetings.

答：由于各地、各人的網(wǎng)絡(luò)質(zhì)量各有不同，并且某些同學(xué)和教師處于全球各地不同的時(shí)區(qū)，客觀而言，在線實(shí)時(shí)視頻授課難度很大。因此，老師們將在每天上課之前發(fā)布閱讀材料、相關(guān)指引或預(yù)先錄制的講座。通過具體描述的書面形式的作業(yè)等，也可以讓同學(xué)們?cè)跊]有課堂的條件下，自主掌握所需掌握的知識(shí)。

Q: Will teachers be teaching from RDFIS campus, and may I return to campus early?

問：老師們會(huì)在RDFIS校園里教學(xué)嗎？我可以早點(diǎn)回到校園嗎？

A: Consistent with government instructions, regular on-campus classes will not resume until February 17. Students may not attend classes on campus before February 17, and students will not be allowed to return to campus before Sunday, Feb 16. We will communicate with you regarding any changes to the school open date if we obtain more information.

答：根據(jù)政府相關(guān)部門的指示：“廣東省人民政府要求中小學(xué)、幼兒園2月17日前不得開學(xué)，大專院校、中職學(xué)校、技工院校2月24日前不開學(xué)”。因此，我校不允許學(xué)生在2月17日之前返回校園。如有進(jìn)一步關(guān)于學(xué)校復(fù)課、開學(xué)日期變動(dòng)等得相關(guān)信息，我們將在時(shí)間通知到您。

Q: What if my teacher posts assignments before February 10–14?

問：如果我的老師在2月10日至14日之前發(fā)布作業(yè)怎么辦？

A: Teachers may begin posting assignments before February 10. However, out of respect for the Spring Festival Holiday, assignments will not be due until February 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14. Many teachers will post one assignment each day at the regular class time.

答：教師可以在2月10日之前開始發(fā)布作業(yè)。但由于目前尚處春節(jié)假期，作業(yè)的截止日期在2月10日，11日，12日，13日和14日才會(huì)到期。許多老師每天都會(huì)在常規(guī)課程時(shí)間發(fā)布作業(yè)。
